Kootenay Lake Ferry Schedule

Enjoy the view and take a break on the Kootenay Lake Ferry, the longest free ferry ride in the world! The crossing takes about 35 minutes and the scenery is spectacular. This free ferry is operated on a first-come, first-served basis, with no reservations, so plan accordingly as you may have to wait during peak travel times. If you do, make sure to stop in to our friendly businesses or tour our restored MV Anscomb Wheelhouse historic attraction located on the ferry landing.

Kootenay Lake is served by two ferries operated by Pacific Western Marine. The larger 80-car capacity Osprey 2000 runs year round and the smaller MV Balfour adds extra trips during peak travel times in summer and when the Osprey2000 is out of service.
