The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has conducted a feasibility study regarding options for improvement of service on Kootenay Lake Ferries, and have proposed two options. The first is to make improvements to the existing landing at Balfour, and the second is to build a new ferry terminal at Queens Bay.
This is a decision that will have far-reaching environmental, financial, social, cultural and safety implications. The Ministry has reached out for public consultation before proceeding with more studies that will eventually culminate in a decision on where the terminal will be located.
This is your chance to tell the Ministry what you want. The report, a Discussion Guide, and a Survey are all on-line and public consultation is invited until July 6. This is the opportunity to be informed and make your feelings known to the Ministry.
